Mutant Renegade Zine 1990-2000
Mutant Renegade Zine grew out of a desire to be more involved in the local scene and eventually because a fairly prominent music publication. During the decade of its existence it went from being a half sized 16 page copied, cut and paste zine to becoming a 64 page newsprint zine with a glossy cover. There were many changes over the years, but a few things remained constant throughout: A DIY ethos, Grog & Mite, a theme for each issue, a secondary focus on music and never taking things too seriously.
Of course after 10 years of putting so much effort into something without many tangible results, plus a healthy credit card debt we decided to call it quits. There are still a few remaining print copies of this zine which you can purchase here or you can head over to the archived website which hasn’t been updated since 7/7/2000 and read any of the old articles.
Mutant Renegade Zine was somewhat reborn as the ChickenFish Speaks 2002-2008 / 2014-? with a strong focus on reviews and only available online. The website is being born again and will soon start accepting admissions once again!
